FANTASY CUPCAKE | Vendor Love

Our first vendor love post! Occasionally the posts are going to be used to feature local vendors that we LOVE and recommend to clients. Fantasy Cupcake is owned by my friend Leah Dotson. Leah came to me a little over a year ago when she decided to turn her love of baking into a business. We worked together to develop branding, marketing and a wesbite for what she planned to be a home based business. A few short months after the business started Leah found the perfect little spot in our hometown of Canal Winchester for a shop. It was too perfect to pass up, so after some remodeling and a lot of hard work Leah opened Fantasy Cupcake in historic downtown Canal Winchester at 9 S High St.

Fantasy Cupcake makes all of their cupcakes fresh everyday. They have a huge variety of flavors and they specialize in weddings and custom orders! GIMMI | Engagement OSU

Alex and Sarah met 7 years ago through a common friend and were introduced online over AOLInstant Messenger. They talked for years and developed a great friendship and then lost contact for a year or so. So Sarah decided to facebook stalk him (don’t judge we have all done it;) They started talking again and finally got the chance to meet for the first time in person when they were 18 and 19 when Alex had a connecting flight in Atlanta where Sarah lived. They spent the next several months flying back and forth to see each other until Sarah was able to move to Ohio in March 2011. Alex proposed to Sarah in May 2011.

I met Sarah and Alex at New Albany church and my husband and I have developed a great friendship with them. Can’t wait for their wedding in June in Westerville! Click on the thumbnails below to view the entire gallery!

AVERY | Newborn Canal Winchester, OH

Amy is Avery’s aunt….or should I say more like a super aunt! She loves her little niece more than anything! Amy contacted me before Avery was born to set up a newborn session. Avery was born on 12.13.11 and weighed 7lbs 3oz. I always bring props such as baskets, blanket, hats, headbands and more to all of my in home newborn sessions but Aunt Amy was very prepared! Between the two of us we had so many outfits and props for this tiny models first photo shoot! Avery has the cutest little lips and I am sure you will all agree when you see her pictures. Amy just framed one of Avery’s 16×20 prints in an French Vanilla Organic Bloom frame. Love these frames and so excited to be able to offer them. RICHARD & LAUREN | Engagement

Richard and Lauren’s engagement session was in Gahanna, OH on a chilly day but we made the best of it with their adorable dog and the beautiful lighting! I asked Lauren to share a little bit of her love story and here it is. Lauren was attending the University of North Carolina and Richard was living in San Francisco when they met. He was in Chapel Hill on business when they first ran into each other. They really hit it off, and before leaving exchanged e-mail addresses. What started as a fantastic friendship eventually turned into a 3-year long distance relationship. With Laura now living and working in Columbus, and Richard working in California…they saw each other very little, but as much as we possibly could. Richard finally moved to Columbus about a year and a half ago and they couldn’t be happier! He proposed on February 1st of this year and they are very much looking forward to our wedding on August 4th! ADRIENNE & BRANDON | Wedding

I have known Adrienne for sixteen years…wow that makes me feel old! I grew up with her and her family and Adrienne is very much like a little sister to me so I was very glad to hear she had met a great guy like Brandon. Adrienne loves to write and every Christmas she sends out a very detailed letter of a summary of her year to friends and family and I always love reading it. So instead of writing about Adrienne and Brandon I asked her to write a little bit for their blog post. Here it is….

“We met at the airport (**TECHNICALLY). He re-enlisted and was supposed to go to Hawaii when i jokingly asked him if there were any USMC units or bases in Ohio. Three days later, he checked and in May he moved here and we were able to really see where this relationship was going to go. Two years later, we were married. We are still in Cincinnati where Brandon plans on finishing up his term, unless God directs him to stay in the Marine Corps. Being a wife of a Marine has taught me so many lessons. The most important thing that being a Marine wife has taught me, is that my own independence is valuable, it is something that no one will be able to take away from me. When Brandon is gone completing missions overseas, I am home and being as independent as I am is the one way that I make it through the rough days. There are many battles that Brandon has to deal with on a day to day basis. Not a day goes by that he doesn’t struggle with something from being in the USMC. But God gets us through, we have a faith that surpasses all struggles, battles and lonely hearts.” – Adrienne

Hannah and my sister have been roommates for two years and I must admit I was sad to hear my sister was losing the best roommate she has ever had! But I was also so excited to hear Hannah and Steve were getting married. They met through Steve’s mom that works with Hannah at Duke Hospital. They are getting married in June at Sleepy Hollow in North Carolina. I can’t wait to be a part of capturing their special day! Hannah and Steve’s engagement session was at Lake Lynn in Raleigh, NC.

AUMAN | Wedding

Brittany and Caleb were married in the Historical Round Barn at Fairfield County Fairgrounds in Lancaster, OH. For those that know them know this location was the perfect place for their wedding. The barn made a beautiful location for the ceremony with natural light coming in through the top and the touches such as the burlap isle runner made it complete. Brittany’s beautiful dress was from Wendys Bridal. The flowers were from Floral Originals in Lancaster, OH. Brittany and her bridesmaids went to Irelands Spa for their hair, makeup and nails. The reception took place at Hickory Lakes in Pickerington, OH.

So I know I have been talking forever about getting the blog up but things have been so busy (thankfully:) But it is finally here! I am so excited to finally have a blog. A lot of people have asked why get a blog when you already have a professional site for your photography and thats a good question so I’ll start by answering that in this first blog. There are actually a lot of reasons so I will just list them:

1. I can post full slideshows and more photos from my shoots (on facebook I only post a “sneak peek” or “teaser” album and on the website, which I am awful at updating but have tried to add some more photos lately, again I only put some from each shoot up.

2. I get to post a little story behind each photo shoot, whether it be a bride and groom, senior or newborn session.

3. I can pass on information, pictures, and posts about my favorite wedding vendors such as Fantasy Cupcake.

4. You can view the photos on the blog from an ipad or iphone (since they don’t enable flash and most photography websites are flash this has cause quite a problem for photographers but a professional photography blog is a great solution!)

5. I can post about popular wedding trends/photos so brides can get ideas from here. Since I love everything about weddings I am always coming across new things I would love to be able to share.

6. I love to hear feedback from others so feel free to leave a comment!!

7. Last but not least since this is my blog I can say whatever I want…scary I know lol… but I also intend on having some posts without photos but a little more about what God is doing in my life, how much I love my puppy and husband, and some camera/photoshop posts, etc so hopefully I don’t bore anyone. I hope to be able to use this blog encourage and help others as well like some of the blogs I follow have done for me.

To test out my first photos on here I am going to start with my beautiful sister…..whenever she is home I try to get some shots of her. She is a nurse for children with cancer and other autoimmune/genetic problems and if she wasn’t so amazing at what she does I would say she should be a professional model:)
